10 Reasons Why Your Family Should Visit Sonoma County

Early morning fog rolls over the vineyard-covered hills as the sun’s rays stretch out like a baby’s arms rising from slumber. The highways weave in and around redwood forests, climb through mountains, and dart out to coastlines dotted with beach cottages and tasty fish n’ chip spots.

Sonoma County is home, the gorgeous semi-rural place I grew up, where I held my first job at Walgreens Pharmacy, learned to drive the country roads in my parent’s monstrous Suburban, and how to eat, breathe, and speak wine. Nearly all my friends and family, along with my life’s most cherished memories, can be found in Sonoma County.

With Sonoma County’s amazing backdrops, award-winning wineries, thriving craft beer scene, and loads of fun activities for families, this picturesque county, one hour north of San Francisco, is the perfect vacation spot to trek, sip, and learn.

Check out ten more reasons why your family should visit Sonoma County, one of the most beautiful wine regions in the United States.

    1. It’s right next to Napa County (famous wine country), the twin sister to Sonoma County. Hope you can make it there someday! Southwest has killer deals to San Francisco and Oakland Airport at this time of the year.

  2. Wow! Safari West would be fun for my whole family and my oldest would LOVE the Gardens. PLUS she has been wanting to go to San Fran so it would be awesome to combine a day or two of the city with a few days up in the county!

  3. I just pinned this. We drove through Sonoma earlier this year, and I realllllllly want to go back. Since I didn’t think we were stopping, I didn’t research at all (and we have three young kids, so it’s not like we could hope around from vineyard to vineyard). This will totally come in handy next time we visit. Thanks!!
